Bryant University Bryant University is a private university in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Smithfield is located just outside Providence. But so is the rest of the state of Rhode Island. It's not that big (school nor state). Bryant University has just three colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Health and Behavioral Sciences, and the College of Business. The first few images displayed on the University's website are brown and beige buildings surrounded by snow and bare trees. I'm out. I'm sure it is a beautiful campus in the fall. Still out. The Bryant Bulldogs moved from Division II to Division I in 2008. They moved from the NAIA to Division II in 1980. Prior to 1963, there were an independent aimlessly competing against anybody who would play them. You got a junior high team we can play anyone?? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? For almost a century, Bryant was known as The Indians. The Bulldog logo became the official new logo and mascot of the university after a 1995 campus-wide vote. The school now has a living mascot and a costumed mascot to represent the bulldogs mascot and university athletics. Tupper II, known as Tupper for short, serves as Bryant University's mascot and attends campus events. What happened to Tupper I? I guess he got sent to a farm in upstate New York. The Bulldogs are one of six teams in the year's Tournament that are named Bulldogs: Georgia, Mississippi State, Yale, Gonzaga, and Drake are the others. How original. The basketball team competes in the Chace Athletic Center The fish-eye lens makes it look much bigger than it is. Since 2023 Bryant's head coach has been Phil Martelli Jr. Martelli Jr. is the son of Phil Martelli, who spent 24 years as the head coach of Saint Joseph's and five years as the associate head coach at Michigan.
